I love making things with my hands. There's something about being able to use my hands to materialize an idea in my mind that brings me so much satisfaction. Another thing that I love is writing. I communicate so much better in writing than in talking. So this blurb below may be kind of long...
Creating has been a part of every season of my life, and I love working with a variety of media. I’ve made greeting cards for as long as I can remember, cutting and pasting and drawing them for my friends and family. In my more adventurous days as a little girl, I once melted all my crayons in the oven to make “candles” (so thankful for really cool parents who did not scold me for the strong wax smell that lingered in the house for days!). Through the emotional teenage years, I found creative outlets through wood crafts and pottery classes at school. During a lonely period in my adult life, while working in a small, rural town, I found comfort in writing and illustrating my very first picture book (so thankful for my supportive husband who published it for me as a birthday gift last year so now I can share it with others. It is sold in my shop in the "book" section). In the joyful days of preparing for my wedding, I designed and created our own wedding invitations and programs, and not too long ago, in my sleepless days (and nights) of being a new mom to twin girls, I often traded sleep time to make hair clips, headbands, and tutus for them.
Now that the sleepless phase is over, I am excited that I can get more organized to open a shop here on Etsy and share this passion with a community that loves and appreciates all things handmade.
My favorite materials right now are lace and paper. Lace is so classic and timeless, and paper is precious to me in this day and age where everything has gone digital. I like to keep things simple and functional, and I put a lot of thought into everything I make, whether it's a hair clip, a headband, or a card.
Opening this shop has been a fun but also soul-searching process. I believe I was created by my Creator to create. I also believe that I've been blessed to be a blessing. Creating is something I love to do and something I hope to bless others with. My hope is that my products will bless those who buy them or receive them as gifts, and that my profits will bless those who are in need.
